After receiving a DYCP grant from the Arts Council of England in January 2021, Carl has embarked on an exciting project discovering an integration of electronics, programming and computer based music with solo saxophone.
"This was a new way of working for me, under lockdown, working from home in 2021 With collaboration with John Butcher, Mauricio Pauly, Matt Wright and others I am attempting to build a system integrating electronics and sound processing enabling me to create and improvise music in a natural way,"
It was a 10 month project culminating in a concert of new music, created and inspired by various collaborators including jazz musicians, free improvisors, composers and electronic music creators.
The music culminated in a performance at Dartington Summer Festival, 2021. Read my blog about the process.
